What My Marketing Team Is Begging Me to Tell You

“Phil, you need to hype this up.”

That’s what my marketing team keeps telling me.

They’re talking about the Beyond the Game Summit — a one-of-a-kind event that combines three days of in-person coaching with six weeks of online coaching. And yes, this is the part where I’m supposed to start selling it. (Full disclosure: About 60% of seats are already taken, and the early bird pricing closes soon.)

But the truth is, I’m hesitant to promise anyone life-changing results. I know the Summit will be exactly that for some. I’m confident many more will walk away having gotten far more than their money’s worth — whether it’s leaving with a firm sense of direction, forging connections that open doors long after Vegas, playing with renewed focus and emotional resilience, or finally tapping into their full potential.

Still, I get uncomfortable listing outcomes like that. Not because they’re not real — I’ve seen them happen — but because they don’t come with a guarantee. And I don’t believe they should be sold like one.

For some, the Summit might be a quiet nudge in the right direction. For others, it could flip a switch they didn’t know was there — and end up being truly career-changing.

I know, because that’s what happened to me.

The Moment

A few years ago, one moment — one conversation — changed the course of my career.

It was 2019. I was drowning in work, trying to keep struggling businesses afloat, raising a 6‑month‑old son, and I’d lost my edge in high‑stakes poker.

I was worried the game had passed me by while life pulled me in other directions.

Then one of my coaches — Elliot Roe — invited me to a mastermind event.

I showed up expecting to fix a business problem. Instead, I heard something that set me on a completely different, and much better, path.

Someone said:

“Phil, you are miserable when you talk about operating your business, and you light up when you talk about playing poker.”

I looked around and saw everyone nodding in agreement.

“Why not let others run your business while you focus on what you do best — playing the game on big stages?”

That’s when I realized I’d been using business as an excuse. Deep down, I was afraid. I wasn’t sure I could study and compete in the solver era.

Reclaiming My Game

I’m not going to break down everything we discussed at Elliot’s event — some things are better experienced than explained — but I’ll fast-forward to what happened next:

Fueled by the love of poker that others in the room had seen in me, I faced that fear.

I picked up a solver. I started studying.

It wasn’t easy — the learning curve was steep — but I loved it. I launched the Galfond Challenge to push myself and prove I still had what it took.

And every win wasn’t just about the money. It was about reclaiming my confidence — and my identity — as a high-stakes pro.

Honestly, it’s the accomplishment I’m most proud of in my poker career: showing up in the post-solver era and proving to myself that I still belonged.

And I could never have done it without focusing on the parts of my game that go beyond strategy.

Why I Created the Summit

What does it really take to perform at the highest level? That’s the question Beyond the Game Summit was built to answer — by helping you get clear on who you are as a player, where you’re headed, and what’s been holding you back.

You’ll learn strategies to improve your decision-making under pressure and stay sharp when every hand counts. I’ve brought in a stacked lineup of experts — including some of the world’s top players and the mindset coaches who helped me transform my own game.

We’ll even hold a fireside chat where my measly three WSOP bracelets are just a drop in the bucket — the four of us collectively hold 22 WSOP titles!

And yes, there will be a few surprises, too.

Vegas and Beyond

Every time I’ve attended an event like this, I’ve left with much more than my money’s worth.

That’s what I want for everyone who joins us in Vegas, and that’s why this isn’t just a one-off summit.

It includes six weeks of follow-up coaching calls as a bonus to provide continued support. Because I’ve experienced firsthand how much impact one event — followed by the right kind of guidance — can have.

I don’t know if my marketing team will be thrilled with this pitch, but it’s the best I can do 🙂

If you’d like to join me in Vegas, know that spots are limited — and early bird pricing ends in 8 days.
